I want to eliminate the TA. What if I just left the TA clutch,TA pressure plate, and TA throwout bearing out?

With those missing and the ta one way clutch faulty, the tractor will not move.
Making a solid pressure plate to tension the TA driven plate with compression force to lock it and still have its bolts tight would work. So would just replacing the one way clutch Heavy duty parts are cheap if you just do that sprague or ramp/roller clutch that is slipping. Jim

Without the TA clutch, the tractor will be in TA all the time if the TA unit is good. It will freewheel down hills, and if that's done enough times the TA unit will eventually fly apart from being overspeeded.

The TA clutch is generally the LAST thing to go bad in a mechanical TA unit. Normally if the TA is out, just leave the lever alone and the tractor will work fine in Direct pretty much forever.

Split the tractor between ta housing and rear housing, pull output shaft from ta, discard rollers, reassemble. Disconnect ta lever, have direct drive only and no shifting problems. If you weld up the planet gears, even a worn out overrunning clutch will often hold enough to make roll back impossible and shifting out of gear difficult.

If I do that, would I need to put the TA flywheel, TA clutch, TA pressure plate, or the TA throwout bearing back in?
