anyone ever install an overbore piston kit into a farmall super c. 3 1/8 to 3 1/4, any power change on that alone?

I put 3 1/4" in an old F14 which uses the same pistons as the A, B, C Farmalls.
It had a lot more power and when I plowed at shows people asked me what I did to the engine to make it sound the way it did. My dad had a 120 bushel E-Flow gravity wagon that I pulled when full with the F-14 with no problem. Very slow but I got home.

Now stop and think about it you will get a 10-12 PERCENT increase and in other words about 2.5 - 3 horse power increase NOT a 10-12 Hp. increase . This little symbol % is PERCENT With and over bore kit usually they come with Step head pistons witch means HIGHER COMPRESSION and when you increase the bore means more cu. in. and then ya TUNE the engine and adjust the fuel and wham ya got more pony power.

thanks, thought i had to have an engine shop do it and do cam and larger valves in order to get more power..didnt think pistons alone would be good enough.

You need to bore the area where the o-ring goes and then change heads for bigger valves and get the RED POWER sleeves and pistons from Abeline and its easy to get 40 pluss HP. I know where there is one and last i heard from him getting 42HP. He is running 2000 rpm best pulling BN around there

I did since it was the same price as the 3 1/8 pistons. Can tell I have a little more hp and torque. Now here is the thing. The Super C already has more power than the weight/tire size can handle without spinning out. I'm not sure it makes sense to increase it unless the cost is a wash or you're building a pulling tractor.

The valves and cam should also add power. The cam will allow the intake valves to stay open, thus allowing more air fuel into the cylinders. It also allows the exhaust valve open longer.

How much power are you looking for, Tim? What have you already done? Are you down to shaping and polishing the ports and manifolds? What alterations have you done to increase air intake? Those old tractor engines were built where there is always some more power to get somewhere. Just make sure the rest of your tractor can support that much power, as you can double the original power rating of some of the old tractors. Make sure your engine can maintain cooling and lubrication, as you continue increasing power, as well. At some point you may want to consider simply buying a more powerfull tractor.

hi,the head has been just done, the manifold been ported/poished and the intake on the manifold has been bored real thin for a little larger carb.

So to improve power and fuel efficiency the plan is to install over size pistons with more surface area?
So I'll just over bore my truck engine with 10% larger pistons and have the truck improve fuel efficiency and power by 10%

dont be a wise guy,no one said anything about fuel efficientcy, just trying to see if its worth a little more power by installing a little bit larger piston for antique pulling.

The power increase is from the additional swept volume and more air/fuel mixture being burned .Piston surface area is a small factor .
