what is the difference in a 460 and 560 diesel cylinder head ? can you interchange them ?

If you can stretch a 236 far enough to fit on a 281, yes. Otherwise, not likely....

Actually, it's weird. The 460 bore is 1/8" bigger than a 560. But, it's still off.

I think the heads are the same. Different bore & stroke.

Replacement heads are the same for D-236 & D282. There was some differences in precups back in the day and not all of them interchange. Valves were changed as they went along but either head with given valves will work.

the 340 460 and 560 and 660 diesels all have the same bore.
