I remember hearing that if a cheetah does not catch its prey within about a minute, lunch is over. They're obviously sprinters and not marathoners, they burn up so much energy so fast that to extend the chase could have fatal consequences for the cheetah.

60 Minutes Sunday night had a squib about a cheetah that killed a monkey, then found the monkey's baby and went all maternal with it. They didn't say how that turned out---baby might have turned out to be a bed-time snack.
 
Amazing in what you can't see in real time,
I never knew that they actually alternated their feet on each stride.

Great video, I especially liked the very end where they showed the equipment they used and a brief moment that was not in slow motion. WOW
 

I have a six year old grandson who is crazy about cheetahs, he went as one on Halloween. I will have to send it to him.
 
yeah I thought that was interesting - always assumed both back legs went tother when they got going fast.
