I have an ingersol rand air compresser that is a year old and I was blowing stuff out yesterday and had a problem. It has the synthetic oil in it for running continually and I ran it for about 5 minutes straight and when it gets to 110 psi it blows the breaker. You can hear the compresser start to sieze, sounds like its hammering and then trips the breaker. If I let it cool down a while it will go to the 135 psi shut off. If it's cycling for a short time I have no problems when it's cool. I have a 40 amp breaker in it and the book called for 30. Any thoughts on the problem? I have a feeling that the pump is failing. The motor is cool but that pump sure gets a smoking hot.
