i think of buying a john deere 510 back hoe only problem is it will go backward and it will go forward. but it wont move in first second or third gears. but it will in fourth gear its a shuttle shift help before it gets gone

510 had powershift trans which can be very expensive to repair. Only way to know what is wrong is by installing gauges and check pressures in each faulty gear.

There are several ports on the RH side. They will be identified as C1,C2,B1,B2,B3. I can't remember all the port descriptions and and I have no tech manual for a 8 speed powershift trans. You need a chart that describes which ports need to be be checked in each gear. To facilitate the test the lever(parts key #5) needs to be relocated to disconnect trans from differential so tractor won't move.
