SMTA power steering

I want to run my steering using the tractors hyd system by using a diverter control valve, what I would like to know is how many gpm it takes for the steering and if that will effect the the rest of the system when you want to raise and lower the impilment, and where to find a diagram of how to tie into the hyd system, any help would be greatly appreciated.

A prioriy valve must be used between the input to the existing valve and the pump. The steering usually takes less than 3GPM so it will usually not affect the operation of remotes unless turning while lifting, and then not much. Jim

Jim... Jan has got you going but you used one word and he used another. You said DEVERTER valve . What you really want is a Priority valve for the steering. Surplus center is you source and he has your answer on the plumbing. I like him seem to agree you want see any noticeable difference in lift or rear performance.

I don't know this for sure, but I thought a priority valve diverted that 3 gpm to the PS. all the time, not just when turning, I have a Massey Harris 44 Special, using a priority valve from a MH333, 3 gpm to run a char-Lynn power steering unit, stealing that 3 gpm from a total flow of 10 gpm. It works great but my remote to the rear seems somewhat slower to lift an implement.
