was not looking & added about two or three gallons of gas to a 1190 case Dsl. tank that was almost out of Dsl. will I be O.K. to just fill it the rest way up with Dsl. or do I need to drain?? thanks for any Info.

Some diesel automobile manufactors recommended adding 10% unlead to the tank to keep them from jelling in the winter.

I think you could go either way and be ok. May want to put a little oil in with the fuel to be sure. Having said that if the tank is really low it may be a good time to drain and flush the tank as it could more than likely use it any way. It takes the gas worry out of mind and saves on fuel filters later.

Back in the day when a lot of farmers used 5 gallon cans to take fuel to the field, one of the hired men grabbed the wrong can and put 5 gallons of gas in the fuel tank of a TD14.

There was barely any diesel fuel in the tank; when he moved the lever to switch to Diesel, the head blew off of the engine, through the hood and landed about 50 feet away from the tractor.

The only time we mixed gas and diesel fuel was to create a blend of "tractor fuel" for that cursed JD G.

I'd say: Whatever you do - play it safe. If that means draining the tank, then drain it. Burn the fuel in an old gas engine; it will be much safer and less expensive that way.

Probably faster to drain it & keep going than to run to the computer and ask the question...

I would not run unless you can mix with 400 gallons diesel. In my old Mack it would only stand 1/2 gallon in 180 gallons.

The 1190should have one of the diesel powered glow plugs in it. With gas in the tank, it could easily blow the intake manifold right off the tractor. Same as when someone tries to ether one.

Nobody on here can know for sure. Do you really want to take a chance? Even if your tank held $100 worth of fuel you had to throw out, that's a lot cheaper than repairing an engine and injection pump for $1000's.

Years ago, 70's, we didn't have the fuel supplements that we have now, I would add 1 gallon of gas to a 75 gallon tank of diesel fuel when we went to Canada to keep from gelling and it never, ever, gave any trouble. The truckers from up there only ran #1 diesel and had no trouble but we were loading in south Texas where it would be 70 to 80 degrees and going up where it was as much as 40 below 0, big concrast and condensation was bad deal. I'd run it and never give it a second thought.

The biggest problem is gas don't ignite by compression very well. It is designed to be set off with a spark. So it might be a little hard to start. Gas is also very dry for lubrication of the fuel system but a quart of oil would offset that. I would add a quart of oil and be sure to fill it with diesel and run it. Just be sure to add oil for lube.

I am the odd man but have a bunch of 50 + years experience.. No way 2 or 3 gall of gas is going to hurt anything. Blow up ..no way it will mix and just make you have hot fuel.. Stir it up and run it.
