Hey There,

I have the same model. The chain on the right side as you are looking at the spreader from the front keeps slipping off the gear. Trying to get a picture of the way the gear should be set-up. Can"t find one. Can you help? It still turns the drum and fan but rubs on the adjustment arm. Also, I lost the part that is attached to the inside of the gear housing on the same side that moves the chain. Still have the Feed Adjusting Arm (per the parts catalog)but don"t know for sure what else I"m missing. Jury riged it to work with a cable but would like to find out what parts I"m missing - The local John Deere Dealer couldn't help me. Thanks much for any help anyone can give!

I found a manual online at the JD site, that shows all that. Its been a couple of years, so I cant remember exactly how I found it. Keep trying, its on there somewhere. It showed the dealer how to assemble the spreader plus all part numbers.

Thanks so much James. I will look for it. I spent about $1,000 at the John Deere Dealer 3 years ago on this thing, just to get everything lined up and working correctly. It kept breaking down (they never break empty as you know) every time I would use it and breaking the chain. Then $500 this year on the gear assembly. You can get some parts but many are obsolete. I've had this thing since 1985 (sand blasted it, fixed metal floor and re-painted it)but at the cost of new ones it's still cheaper to keep repairing it. I should probably look for the same model and buy a spair just for parts! Thanks so much for taking the time to give me some feedback.
