A very Interesting Concept. Supply & Demand of Profiteer

It is only profiteering to the ones who didn't think about it first or couldn't figure out a way to profit from it. People hate oil wells and wind turbins unless they are on THEIR land.If people let their concience control their common sense , we would still be eating raw supper in the dark and hoping the wolves stayed out of our cave.

Should be interesting to see how majority of people view it. Hopfuly, votes are cast knowing there are only two players,me and my one and only neighbor and that he is indeed paying me for water, just not a inflated amount. If I had multiple neighbors,it could easly become supply and demand which would result in me charging more for water than was the case with only one neighbor buying my excess.

I don't think that situation is profiteering, because at the end of the day, you've only done good. You helped yourself out, you helped your neighbour out and technically you made the market slightly more competitive. There are situations that some don't see as profiteering, that sure seem like it to me. i.e- natural disaster in Chile that has no real impact on the supply of oil, but it is used as an excuse to raise the price of gas 50 cents or collusion that results in market wide over mark up. There are products that have far too much markup, but that's just the way it is, and nobody will break the status quo and charge a fair price. Another example is gas prices going up immediately because the price of oil went up, but when it drops it takes 2 weeks to drop. Most examples of profiteering fall under natural disasters either locally or far away and the cases of the status quo. What really gets me is when there is a natural disaster, and the price of everything goes up because people have no other choice. Those people should be thrown in jail to rot, Worthless scum as far as I'm concerned.

There is no profit in the existence of a supply and a demand. There has to be a transaction first and it has to be a transaction where the seller makes far more than a usual profit. How can there be profiteering in bottled water when they are selling 24 for $2.67? The bottles don't make themselves or fill themselves.

I don't hold out the sugar shortage as profiteering or fair trade but since oil and gas keeps poping up,I thought it might interest some.
About 30 or 40 years ago, sugar prices skyrocketed and there was rationing in many places. The very next year sugar was so plentiful that it was pushed as low cost livestock feed because it was being subsudized. I felt then and still feel that we were being jacked up and somebody made more profit than they desearved.

I remember that. People were bringing 50 lb. sacks of sugar from Mexico because of the "shortage" here.

Poor example of profiteering. I can get a 24 pack of 500ml bottles for 1.97 regular price. Comes on sale for 1.75 sometimes too. I do think though that Dasani and other "high end"??? water is a complete rip off.
