A buddy of mine just bought an IH 444 gas tractor with a loader but it has no power steering. PS was an option but was it factory or an aftermarket does anyone know? He would like to add the option if he could find it. |

| There were several factory setups and also two types of aftermarket that I know of. I've got an aftermarket setup on mine that I found on Ebay for $75. It uses a linkage power-cylinder like 1960s Ford cars used to have. That a a belt driven power steering pump. Factory setups often used a unitized dual pump that was bolted to the engine . . . or a splitter. |

| Hi John, there were two types of power steering for 444. 1) British built 444 had 2 hydraulic pumps, cascaded one behind the other. One pump for PS and the other for 3pt. The steering drag link was replaced with a hydraulic cylinder with an inbuilt control valve. 2) Crate shipped units to USA had 1 hydraulic pump with splitter valve and power steering was USA built hydro-static PS with hydraulic cylinder under front bolster.Jim |
