3 guys pulled up at 0745, I had beer and leberkase brotchens (bigass warm bologna sammich) for their breakfast. They got started at 0815 and I took the last pic at 0910. Think it's safe to assume they'll be done on schedule.... Doing the back half first...Only thing the fat guy hasta do is feed em and cut up the scrap wood for firewood. With both feet on solid ground....

I've got roofers coming too, but I think it'll take more than
leberkase brotchen to get them started. I was going to have
the Amish do it, but a local guy matched their price. Don't
those tile roofs last like 'forever'?

Roof crews in my neighborhood eat Burritos and tacos for breakfast. And they arrive 16 of 'em in a dually pick-up.

My guess is - Like the roof slates around here. The nails fail and they have to be refastined. Today most use SS nails to put them back on.

no nails in these... 2nd row holds the 1st and so on and the caps put in with mortar... Think on the new roof the caps are fastened with screws instead of mortar but not sure.....

When I ordered "leberkase" in Munchen, they told me it was "leber (liver) "kase" (cheese).
What we call here "liverwurst".

Haven't thought of liverwurst in awhile. It was Dad's favorite, so I ate a lot of it as a kid. Didn't hate it, but didn't love it, either- preferred bolagna. Haven't had any since I left home 45 years ago.

No, that's not exactly right. LeberKaese is the same a Dutch Loaf. And boy howdy is it good, fresh out of the oven, warm on a roll.

Liverwurst is Leberwurst....... No liver or cheese in leberkase... Been tryin to get these Germans to fix their language for years..... There is a couple of things that just don't translate right, but leberkase is the perfect example... I missed out on it for years because I wouldn't try liver and cheese together.... watched some being made at an exhibition and asked where the liver and cheese was and got a good laugh from the folks standing around......

No.... they wouldn't hold up to taking off, stacking, and then putting them back... I wanted the same style but the old bat wanted sumpin different...
Also, the end caps (at the gables) are sheetmetal, the new one will be a shingle with the cap molded in... The end shingles cost more than the rest of the normal ones.....

Here's what Leberkaese looks like. Wife just came back from germany visiting her father.

It's store bought instead of butcher made, and not as good. But still is Yummm Yummm.
