Got a 90 Kodiak with 427 gas TBI injected. It wouldn't start, the fuel pump had died. Replaced the in tank fuel pump, and fuel filter. Can hear the fuel pump running, have gas to the TBI unit, but it won't start. If I dribble some gas in the Throttle body it will run for a few seconds. Any ideas? Thanks

Should be one ot more large round pieces above the bores in the TBI. Lightly tap those wile someone is cranking the engine, you should see a cone sjaped spray pattern spraying down into the TBI.

know that this sounds strange to some, but the code reader indicated a temperature sensor, not the sensor feeding the gauge, but feeding the ECM, and a new sensor fixed it.

I had the TBI on several Chevy Citations we owned. I bought one at a government sale and had been used by the FBI so they said. One of them started to cutout on the highway, but would always restart. I installed a fuel gauge on it and found the fuel pressure would drop off at times. I pulled the gas tank and found lots of rust and crud around that sock on the pickup tube on the tank pump. I cleaned the tank and installed a new pump. That fixed the problem. Hal

You're not getting injector trigger signal.

First place I'd look is the ignition module and/or the oil pressure ECM sender.

Check the grounding strap for the tank. On my 88 sierra the strap was so corroded it broke when i replaced the fuel pump, but i didnt realize. New strap and itran like a champ. I was having the same symptoms as you.

If it has a fuse in dash fuse box--check it. Take it out and replace even if it looks okay. Then let computer reset. Did that to my 94 twoo years ago and hasn't bothered since. Could be your problem - maybe or maybe not!!!

See if you're getting a pulse with a noid lite. They plug into the injector harness at the TBI. Should be a bright white pulse everytime the injector is commanded to fire. If you are it's likely an injector. If not go backward to the PCM and the control side. Hope this helps. Gerard

Fuel pressure on a 427 truck engine in a Kodiak should be 28-32 psi. Does this truck have dual tanks? If so, the engine pump is in the right tank. Seen them get put in the wrong tank before, the left tank just transfers to the right.
