OT Lawn fertilizer

Want to fertilize our lawn yet this fall. Thought I will get something in buckets from the local dealer and mix by hand instead of bagged lawn stuff. What should I shoot for analysis wise? Old bluegrass severly stressed by drought and some new grass planted last year late summer with a good stand and growth this year.

Baged 12-24-24 will grow a root system this winter and the nitrogen will run out before spring and not mow you to death

And in some parts of the country 12-24-24 is illegal to use on lawns to prevent runoff from excessive fertilization causing algae in surface waters.

I have had good luck with only P&K in the fall, the N will be wasted if added now. I usually just run across the yard with buggy headed to corn field.

Be carefull fertilizing in a bad drought, its possible to hurt your grass instead of helping it.You may want to consider fertilizing less than you would normally. Basically when you fertilize grass it takes off and starts to grow more (above or below ground) when new growth happens without adequate moisture to support it,it stresses the plant even farther. its so dry here now that most places are suggesting not fertilizing at all this fall. of course it depends on your situation and all , but its something to be aware of.

Ask them if they have any busted bags of fertilizer laying around. I had an old (3-5 years) bag of 13-13-13 laying up at the barn. I resowed my lawn this fall and just threw that old stuff on there. Wow.....haven't mowed it and it is over a foot tall!

i use the urine from my cat and collect it for several years than pee on the cat pee.. and stuff.. drive it through water ya know?
