Husquvarna 4 stroke weedeater surprise.

I bought an X-series Husquvarna 324L with my stimulus money from President Bush. Still waiting on my check from president O. So, it's at least 4-5 years old. I always wanted a 4 stroke weedeater. Wish they made a 4 stroke chainsaw. Haven't seen one yet. It's been an easy starting, quiet, powerful, commercial weedeater. Weighs too much 13+ pounds, but I still love it, wouldn't want anything else. Doesn't smoke like a 2 stroke, but has a carb like a 2 stroke, no adjustments. I don't think I used it much this summer, if any, because it's been so dry. Well I was going around with a large bottle of staybil today putting it in my, weedeaters, mowers and tractors. The Husky didn't want to idle. Took carb apart, found only one main jet, no adjustments, blew out all the tiny holes in carb, put it back together and it runs like it should.

Now for the surprise, guess who makes the motor? It's not Husky. I only found this out after removing the carb and looking for numbers in case I had to order carb parts. If anyone comes up with the right answer, they will have bragging rights. I'll post back later with the answer.

Royse,

Good guess, it's a HONDA.

When I first bought the husky, the people at the hardware where I bought it told me, after I purchased it, that it was made in China. Don't think Honda is made in China.

There are many many good ole USA names, RCA, Craftsman, to name a couple that are made in China. Why would Japanese name brands not be made in China?

Japan is not cheap anymore, notice their oil filters are made in Indonesia so don"t be surprised if the Japanese are not operating from China.
Nothing surprises in their quest for cheap labour.bigger profits.

I think the only 4-stroke engines in weedeater-size are made by Honda and Subaru (Robin).

I had a Robin for a couple of years and really liked it, but traded it in for one with a bigger Honda engine because the Robin seemed a bit gutless running a brush blade. Big mistake! The Honda has never really run right. When it's hot it seems to "flood out" at full throttle when it has to work. I took it back to where I bought it and told them it must need a carb adjustment, but they said it runs fine and couldn't reproduce the problem. They didn't try to clear half a mile of electric fence though, I guess. Sure, it does run fine when spinning string to trim around trees and the yard, but if that's all I wanted to do I wouldn't have thrown down all that money for a high-priced weed wacker.

I'm going to go back to a 2-stroke next.

The Honda engine in my Grillo tiller was made in Thailand. China do make carbon copies of Honda engines though, my neighbour has one in his power washer which he uses in his business power washing driveways etc. and honestly it never misses a beat

I've got a Husquvarna lawnmower, and its engine is a Honda. Like it quite a bit, honestly.
