I went on searchtempest.com and searched for gator. The scammer has the same title for many cities on craigslist..

#2O11~XUV~4WD~JOHN~DEERE~GATOR~825I~ONLY~556/HRS

The one for my town was just flagged for removal a gain. All the rest have been flagged many times on different days.

Craigslist warns not to send money to an escrow account. Here is his last email to me wanting me to send money to an Amazon escrow account.

From: David Goodwin <[email protected]>

Let me explain the process to you..
>
> It will be shipped from Minot, ND and I'll pay the shipping to your location.
>
> You will need to send the funds to Amazon to provide the transaction
> protection for both parties. I will start the shipping process the same
> day I have received notification of the escrow payment. They will hold
> your payment in escrow and only release it to me once you have received,
> inspected, and signed the transaction approval provided by Amazon for
> the gator. You will be allowed 3 inspection days at your address. If the
> gator is not as I described, and you decline the transaction, Amazon

Want to have some fun with the guy search your craigslist and offer to buy it with pay-pal, money order or pay cash for it. Tell him you live close buy and want to see it. You need his phone number too. Bet you won't get a number.

Same deal on compact JD tractor, with trailer, loader, several attachments, all for $5000 or some silly number. The ad always has oddball charachters in it.

Shows up several times a week, and as you say in other cities too.

They've done the same thing with Kubota, John Deere, New Holland, Polaris, Kawasaki, and a host of other equipment. It's usually easy to spot. No phone number, a long list of 'specs', low hours, new paint, fancy pictures of the 'package' that goes with it, and 'contact me at......' type stuff. Oh, and an unbelievable low price. And some real sad stories to accompany how bad they have to get rid of it. Some people probably fall for it, yoo.

on craig's list, stealing pictures, then advertising what is in the picture, is common, on the DC list, it's not unusual to have 5-6 each morning. Fake ads are generally selling at a price that is too good to be true. Also, background looks white, but if you high-light the white background, you will see orange printing there.

Every time I check the Boats category on CL I see a couple of those. You would think they'd get more nibbles by offering a decent deal instead of asking 1/4 what the item would actually be worth if they were really selling it. I guess suckers are born every minute.

"I will contact Amazon regarding our transaction. After that, they will send you the information needed to begin the process."

Yea, sure. Contact Amazon yourself and ask them if they have an escrow service...

I was on CL last night and found a pair of Belgian mares for sale in Northern Kentucky. I am suspicious of the ad because the pictures of the mares in action are all from Prophetstown State Park at Battle Ground, IN, outside Lafayette. They could have bought them, moved them to Kentucky, and decided to sell them, but I wonder?

been geting a scam ad for a tractor with front end loader and back blade, in den, colo c-list,,,guess what it goes poof,,,darn..lol

I had fun with the JD tractor and JD gator ones. Told him I wanted to pay cash on pickup and needed directions. He insisted on shipping it for free lol. I said I preferred to see it in person and that a title or bill of sale be there waiting. He said it was located in a government military storage area which was 500 miles from him and he couldn't meet me there.

These a-holes have been a blight on Craigslist for months. All you can do is flag "em when you see "em,but doesn"t seem to get rid of "em,come right back. They usually post some gmail address, several different ones, now posting camper trailers, horse trailers,JD tractors with loaders,mini-excavators,ATV"s,no doubt others.Just have to keep flagging them, see them multipule post in some areas half a dozen times or more.Maybe they have hacked into Craigslist???

There used to be a ton of these scams on Fleabay as well - all kinds of tractors, skid-steers, boats high-end electronics. etc.
One guy even had 10 or 12 JD 320's with the same pictures and descriptions with "free shipping", etc.
I'll bet there aren't that many JD 320's for sale at one time in the entire country, especially at bargain basement prices.
These scammers would post new ads as fast as their ads were taken down by Fleabay.

I went on searchtempest last night and did a 250 mile search. Searchtempest shows the adds that craigslists flags and removes. Searchtempest leaves the ad up, then shows they have been flagged. WOW, lots of them reposted the next day. Many other ads, many different models too.

First time I've ran across a scam. What an eye opener.
