cold weather water hoses??

What do you folks use for water hoses in winter? Not necessarily freezing, but close..... Any that don't get stiff and brittle or just get kinks that won't come out? The garden hoses just don't do it....

Thanks...

I use a heavy duty garden hose I bought from Home Depot a few years ago. It is black and made out of heavier rubber than most i've seen. It says Goodyear all over it. It was not real cheap but it has outlasted 3 hose carts and I haven't had any of the problems I used to have. It will still kink some but no where near as bad as the others i've used and they come right out. It seems to stay more flexible in cold weather as well. I don't have a clue if you can get anything like that where you are though.

sears; yes, craftsman, has the heavy black rubber
hoses of excellent quality including the fittings.
lifetime warranty to boot. i recommend!

I also like the Sears black hoses ,but I like the older ones better. The newer ones seems stiffer ?

I turn off all outside faucets except the one at the barn which is
made for cold weather by do ping all the water out down where
it connects to the main line.
Fungo watch the cows trying to get water out of the pond with
4 in. Of ice on it.

Goodyear brand hose, I have one that I use all winter long. I drain it after every use but sometimes I mess up and it will freeze solid on me. I have smacked it with a 2x4 numerous time to break the ice out and it shows no sign of the abuse it has taken. I think it is almost 11 years old, the fittings are still like new and tighten by hand the way they should. It gets to stiff to kink up or lay flat until the water has been running for a while.

I have a "red hose" that I use to fill my cow tough and it is amazing. I can drive over it all the time and has lasted for years. I don't know who makes it but I see them in stores and they are expensive but well worth it. They must be 100% rubber and are made right. It can freeze and never breaks. If you want a good hose, get one of the red ones and it's also easy to coil up. Never seen one as good as this one is. Might be expensive but will save you money in the long run.
