Tractor toolboxes

Isnt it amazing that when you buy a old/used
tractor, combine, baler, etc.,the toolbox is so full of
junk(broken bolts,old parts,broken sickle
sections....)that there is no room for tools?

The last tractor that I bought had tools in it. They fell out of the rusted out bottom onto the trailer on the way home and I still have them. Also have the rusted and broken bolts and pins too, lol.

I hadnt thought about that until you said it. The toolbox on my Farmall B had 2 IH wrenches and a whole bunch of JUNK when I bought it. Kind of like the shop of a guy I know, full of junk so the tractors and equipment sit outside.

Inherited FIL's Farmall B, tool box was full of old tools & bird's nest.

I lost a hammer & a pair of channel locks for about a month, finally bought replacements for them. Next week found the old ones in the tool box on the Vermeer mower.

I had made a "tool" to remove an odd-size drain plug on the bottom of my IH 504, and had made a note in the repair manual that it was in the tool box. Went to sell the tractor, and you can guess the rest- tool box had the usual complement of broken bolts, rusty nuts, electric fence insulators, broken Chinese crescent wrench and other junk, but of course, the drain plug tool was nowhere to be found.
