Just when things seem to be catching up a little

Thought we were finally catching up a little and now my wifes' car is down. We have been trying to limp the car along another 2 yrs but not sure now. She said her coolant light came on so I filled it and vented it and filled it full, next day empty again.

She drove it a while and pulled in and I got underneath to look for leak. FOUND IT. I can't see exactly where it is but looking at location and the area, I believe it to be a head gasket. Last spring did a lower intake gasket on it and seemed good then.

I am going to have to rent a pressure tester to find exact leak but they want $160 plus to rent it but I get my money back. Then the parts and repairs will come in. My buddy is a good shade tree mechanic and I trust hims so I will help him to do it. Just thought we were gonna get through Chrsitmas without any surprises.

2 months ago my tranny went out in my truck and we had to have that replaced. Now this.

Hers is a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am with 3.4L.

OK, done just a really frustrated right now.

We had a 99 Bonniville. A great driving car and got 28-34 mpg from local to interstate driving. First the top of the fuel tank rotted out where the fittings and pump are located, then the intake manifold started leaking antifreeze, (Was made from plastic, and warped), and had to be replaced. Then the brake lines started rupturing, and then the replacement fuel tank rotted out again. We wanted to trade it when the "Cash for Clunkers" program was on, but it's EPA gas milage rating disqualified it. We sold it a couple of weeks ago to a scrapper for $200, and he hauled it away.

Well, after your story, I am very sorry for complaining. I know this is trivial and I should feel ashamed for complaining.

At least I have my house and we have another vehicle. We have power and heat unlike many others.

My mom is 2 years, cancer free from her breast cancer.

Just a little upset and wanted to b**ch a little

Just done a 2002 Impala with the 3.4. The head gasket was blown out on the back side of the motor. Did the labor ourselves, sent the heads to town to get them checked and surfaced. Total bill was $458.00 for gasket set, bolts, 1 new valve, pressure check of valves and the surfacing of the heads.

This one is leaking on the back side just behind the belt tensioner pulley, below the alternator.

The car has several other problems, front end is needing a lot of work, the drivers window is broken and motor gone and belt broken in it.

THat is about what I was hoping we would have in it. Did you pressure check the system first or just tear into it?

Thanks
