Any one have any experience using Comsumer Cellular cell phone service? Looking to cut expenses and Comsumer Cellular is about 1/3 the cost for the same service from Verizon Wireless.
 
If you rarely use a phone then it might be a good deal. The 10.00 plan they advertise on tv is just for the service whether you use the phone or no. They really stick it to you by charging you for every second your on the phone whether it's a incoming or outgoing call. At $.25 per minute it adds up fast. They have better plans though so you might want to check out this site http://www.consumercellular.com/Info/Plans.

I went with straight talk walmart sells. It's a track phone so they piggyback on other carriers towers. The service runs 30 bucks a month but I get 1000 minutes per month.
 
Have Consumers cellular. Got it 4 months ago because I took on a part time truck driving job. Never had a cell phone before so I don't know if it's better or worse than anyone else. Have not had any problems yet. Phone works . Can make calls from most anywhere. Couple places didn't have any service. 18.75 mo. for 100 min. So far have never gone over. Wife signed me up. Chose consumers because it was the first one she found that offered a simple phone with big numbers that I could see. Phone was 60.00

I've had them for 11 years. We get 350 min shared with 2 phones for $30.00 month. One time while on vacation we were going over min. They emailed and texed we were going over. We paid $10.00 got 750 min. Next month just changed it back.
 
WE tried it and looked like it would have been good in part of our area but the other part did not have service. Now have Jitterbug and it uses Verison towers so have same coverage we did with veriosn but at a lot less dollars. Mine is only about $20 a month but wife's is a bit higher as she has more minuts but I never reach the small number I have.
