Deer Season Idiosyncrasies

Why is there so many different phases and weapon types at different times of the hunting season. Here in this part of SC it's Aug 15 to Jan 1 bucks. Does every Sat. from Oct.1 till Jan 1. Shoot what you brought. National forests around here have different seasons and weapon types. Lots of places have short seasons and people complain about to many deer.

Think what happened, was that as various weapons beyond the traditional rifle/shotgun became popular, they added extra separate seasons to satisfy those who wanted a season for their special item. Sure is getting complicated. Here bow/crossbow hunters get a trememdous long season. Muzzle loader's season is short and in the nastiest of weather. They get the short end of the stick.
 
Here in MAryland, it's pretty much an open season from early September to the end of January. Bow is open most of the time, with an early smokestick season, then two weeks of firearms, then two more weeks of blackpowder, and another two days or so in January for firearms. Bow season is open the entire time this year through Jan.31. No limit on does for bowmen, 10 does for firearms, and 2 bucks. Quite a season...
 
One thing is separate licen$es are required for different type seasons invloving different weapons.Almost all hunting is now geared to get the Maximum $$$ for the Fish&Game state folks.
