got a question, yesterday at sunrise it was pretty cold out maybe 30, i didnt look, but went to work did my safety checks and fired up our cat 325B excavator, warmed it up for probably 30 minutes, and climbed up on the high bank i was working on, everything worked as it should until, i went to dump the bucket, while it rotated to the closed position when it filled, like it should, when i went to open the bucket it would not rotate past about halfway, not enough to dump even with the dipper, and boom all the way up, i finally got it to dump by wiggling the control stalk just slightly, moving the control all the way to the right caused loss of control of the bucket, and it rotated almost closed by itself, hydraulic fluid is full, with about 30 hours on a full change and filters, any ideas? after about 2 hours it returned to normal operation by itself, that's kind of annoying to say the least and i don't really need the issue all winter

Electric controls??? Maybe a poppet valve in the control valve sticking when it is a little cold.

30 degrees aint cold enough to effect the hyds, we run ours at minus 40 no problems, well very little anyways..lol sounds like a computer problem or pilot control problem???? Actually I just thought of something while I was typin.... got air in the system maybe???

im wondering about the pilot controls, this unit has programmable and changeable control patterns [ so it says on the cab wall] its not very old but i dont know exactly what year it is, it shows a little over 3,000 hrs it was almost as if the 2 ends of the same hydraulic cylinder were fighting each other like the fluid could not leave one side of the piston , so the piston could then travel to the other end, but i never heard of such a problem,

I vhave got a B model and also a C model, My guess is and just a guess but I am thinking with those hours and the temp you might just have had a tad of ice (water/moisture) in the pilot circuit. When it hit the pilot valve there in the cab caused the problem, would come more thinking that than electrical. Reall nothing electrical except the pump comand cicuits. The valves are pure pilot hydraulic. Don,t get excited about trading for a C our B model has been trouble free and have had several small issues with the new C.
