This one is yellow but there are signs of red on it. When they come out of the factory what color were they??? When I get all the modifying done to it I want to clean it up a bit with some paint. It wont be a real top notch paint job but a little paint will spruce it up a bit..

Pain't that thing red and put a little class on the place.. Prolly make that mill run a lot better too...

Back when I was a wee lad, I used to go with my Dad down into the Kinzua area of NW Pennsylvania. (The area is now flooded and known as the Allegheny National Forest.) My Dad was in charge of logging crews. They used TD9's for skidding and TD14's and TD 18's for building roads.

Also, the primary IH crawler dealer, Freeborn Equipment was near where we lived. Being fascinated with such machines, I lurked around there and never saw a TD that was other than red.

Hope this helps.

Color depends on whether it was sold orignially by an agriculture equipment dealer or a construction equipment dealer. I would guess red was the original color though.

I do not remember when I H went to the yellow on construction equipment for sure . But ALL the old T D's that we had were all red . The company i worked for we had them all TD 9's ,TD14's , TD 18's TD 20'and TD24's . All the Allis.'s were orange all Cat's were yellow and the Euclid's were green . Now in 64 Rish Equipment sent out a NEW TD 15 that was yellow for a demo myself i never ran it but my boss did .

around here they were red from the factory, but were painted safety yellow most of the time if used in construction work.makes them easier to see,if they are in shadows or something and theoreticaly reduces accidents.ive even seen some painted green.

Hi Dave, were did you get the photo from. It wes taken at the Newark tractor show here in the UK. The Field Marshall tractor stood next to the TD18A belongs to a friend of mine. MJ

Absolutely John Deere green the same as the rest of the mill. If you don't paint it green there will be rivalry between mill and the power unit and consequent frequent breakdowns.

I agree that most were red. I know my Grandfather bought a TD-14 demonstrator from a dealer in Kansas and it was painted orange.

have you thought about ihc industrial yellow? i think it is a nicer shade of yellow.

I used yellow on the rims and plow on this Farmall A in 1975. Sure looked better than when I bought it. Had to have the plow sandblasted due to all the rust. Hal
