Tom Barto 10-31-2012 06:27:29 67.142.163.22 Report to Moderator	Havin trouble getting my 1566 goin...You may have seen the duely trouble, the starter trouble well yesterday I had trouble getting my hydraulic clutch, hydraulic brake, and steering going...In short...none of them worked. Once I could get the transmission turning and moving they all slowly came online and once the machine got hot - they were all good...no troubles. Hydr fluid was changed a month ago as well as filter and fluid level is good. Any ideas??? I've been warming it up for about an hour now but don't have a place to safely drive it as I did yesterday... [Reply]   [No Email]

If it gray, chances are your inboard brakes are about gone and they are gunking up the filter. If oil looks good and is over the the full mark a ways, it could be your mcv pump. I don't know a lot about that, maybe some other guys will chime in that know more about it. When it gets real cold outside, below 20 degees, we sometimes run the pto after we start the engine to help warm up the transmission oil, that is about all I know.   [Reply]  [No Email]
Tom Barto 10-31-2012 07:08:25 67.142.163.22 Report to Moderator	Re: Farmall 1566 - more trouble in reply to Tom Barto, 10-31-2012 06:27:29   Alright - finally got it moving enough that I heard the pump start to squeel and the steering came back - starting turning in the wrong direction - not the direction I was steering but then came back and slowly started steering - the hydrualic brake also started coming back. I can hear the pump making a light squeeling sound now... Any ideas???   [Reply]  [No Email]

Oh and I ain't no self proclaimed ih mechanic (FAA licensed airmen though) but for what its worth to be able to start it up and have it work try parking it with the rear facing up a hill and nose facing down. Had POS 806 that did not like to steer when started but if it was parked that way it would start and steer fine. Did not know they put different wedges in a 1566 than a 1086 but replaced mine today got to cold spreading on a open station kind of fond of heat and glass   [Reply]  [No Email]
