Ford 861 water pump replace

My manual says loosen belt brackets, remove belt.
Belt wont pass between front pully and cross member. There is a 1/2" plate on the front of pully with 4 bolts. What happens if I remove that plate? Need help guys

Are you planning on replacing the belt?
If not, just pull the fan, which you need to do to replace the pump anyway, and leave the belt there.
1/2 inch plate? Maybe a drive adapter for a stinger pump to run a loader.
If that's what it is you can take it off and put it back on later.

It is still down in the ford forum I looked at it this morning. So did that tractor have a loader on it at one time??? Sure sounds like you have the spline drive hub on the crank shaft pulley and if you do yep you need to remove the 4 bolts that hold it on if you want to remove the belt but if all your doing is replacing the water pump no need to remove the belt just remove the fan drop the belt off the pump then remove the pump. BTDT many times on my 841 and it has a loader and boy is it a pain

Thanks. I got them off and the new pump on and the belts back on.
