Tractor from Canada

Just as a matter of curiousity, (since I could never afford the shipping cost), i was wondering what if any duty, etc. there is to import an antique tractor from Canada to US. Anyone ever done this? I would guess you would have to present a bill of sale and pay a percentage of that?

I happen to have called a hauling company a few minutes ago about a item in Ontario. He said there would be a $ 200 broker fee to get it out of Canada.I guess they do all the paper work.

It used to be a $5 brokerage fee to cross the border. My territory was right up to the Canadian border; my dealers moved equipment across the border for $5, no matter what the equipment was.

if your hauling it yourself, just have your bill of sale and make sure the tractor is clean. no dirt espessially on it. the brokerage fee is for custom haulers. a guy just took a super w6ta diesel from me to usa and he said no problems at all, just the guy at border was worried about the dirt on the tractor and that it should have been washed.

$5.00? Geese, I think I payed more than that about 35 years ago when I was in "The Soo" and when coming back home I claimed that I had bought a birding book. US Customs held me for what seemed like an hour trying to find what the duty on a book was. And that was when the border was very open. The lesson I learned is to never fess up to purchasing anything in Canada, it only makes more work for Customs Agents!!

I have moved tractors both ways , make shur the tractor is clean of any dirt , there is no cost if you are doing your own trucking , make shur you have bill of sale with the sellers name address , phone number
