End of the day today I pass the Nebraska state road side ditch detail as they are servicing their equipment. Parked right there, in the grass, is a brand new Camaro! Maybe they are overpaid? Also could be he lives with his Mom and Dad and has no expenses to speak of!

He must have been Leaning on a shovel for a Long time, to afford that car...

the state workers make a lot of money and have the best benifits of any workers, just thinking though i dont supose that camaro was a unmarked police intercepter unit was it, we got some out here

Yes the best benefits, but not alot of money, if they're driving the camaro either he's single and/or was born with a silver spoon, or married into it and has the job for insurance which isn't that great either from the state, price or policy!!! If I stayed at the dealer I was at I would be making $10 an hour more. Just holding out and waiting for an increase, since every place I've been and left has increased the pay but can't afford to jump around now with a family!! 13 years as a auto/diesel technician for the great state of Nebraska, Norfolk Shop. And unless you seen the worker with a NDOR cap or vest it could very well been an outside contractor or just a friend of a worker. chris

thats what we call them here these are not regular police cars they do not haul prisoners in the back seat they are designed to go fast, very fast just in case somebody decides to run out here its still possible to be 60 to 100 miles from another town and if they cant keep up you get away , now they keep up these special units can top 150 or better if the road allows

I bet that Camero cost less than the 4 door diesel dually these kids drive around here, "But the Chics dig it".

A fully loaded SS Camaro has a sticker of about $40000. A standard Silverado Work truck runs about $35000. Diesel dually runs about $60000. Not exact prices. With incentives. it is possible to get one at a decent price.

AZ uses vehicles seized from drug dealers for unmarked cars. When I worked for ADOT they were using a few sports cars and a Lincoln Town Car. Imagine motorists were quite surprised to get pulled over by a Lincoln Town Car.

Just how much do you think a DOT worker should make?
In NY a laborer makes about 15 per hour. To get the job he had to score in the top 5 on a civil service test.
Average house is about 130,000
Gas in Ny is between 3.70 to 4.25 a gallon
Rent is a minimum of 600.00 per month.
I can assure you that he does not lean on a shovel all day,although we all like to think they do. I can also assure you that he would work harder and be paid less on a private crew.
Project cost to the taxpayer would be the same,except the private contractor would be pocketing the labor savings as profit. The DOT worker is just a smarter person.
What is better for the economy? DOT worker will spend all of his paycheck,in the community,he has insurance so his wife and children don"t depend on welfare for healthcare,when he bought the Camaro he helped a local car dealer provide jobs for people,he payed tax on the purchase,a portion of which goes to the local economy.
The contractor laborer making 8 dollars spends all of his check,foood stamps payed for by you and I make up the shortfall, He drives an old rusty pick up,probably bought from a friend or a used car lot,little if any taxable value.
When his wife and kids get sick they go to the emergancy room where either the goverment picks up the tab orhe just doesn"t pay the bill.
I will take the state worker any day of the week.

Maybe you should mind own business and not worry about who/why/how that Camaro is parked there.

Hi Greg, I assume you saw the Camero near the ditch mowing equipment? I have seen it with them too. Not sure, but I think the ditch mowing in eastern Nebraska is done by a contractor. The same crew runs clear down by Louisville and even farther.

All you need is the down payment , secure job , and bi-weekly payments. We could all have one if we wanted,but why would you want to?

Because they are fun, fast and handle great!! 2011 2ss with the rs package. Btw paid cash and don't have a state job!
