I got the MRI done on my right shoulder this week, all the ligaments have tears. It looks like some surgery for that.

I just have surgery for ruptured disk in my neck in February.

It is he!! getting old.

Funny how when we where young we thought we could do any thing and now that we are getting old we find that doing things like we did back then are now being payed for. Done had the should surgery and hope it does you better then it did me but then I have Aurthur to blame for a lot of my pain

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
Seems like when you get to a certain age all the abuses you've put the body through over the years start backfiring on you. Jim

How did you injure your shoulder..??

I fell a couple weeks ago..Backward, hands full..caught myself with a rt arm out-stretched behind me..
Arm is still pretty useless above shoulder level..

You looking at surgery..??

Ron..

I am having trouble reaching up to change the radio in the truck. I can torque things fine, but not raise my arm up.

David G,

I had a similar problem, they called it a frozen shoulder - painful.

I suffered with this for years, my Daughter made an appointment at the therapy place she was going to, I had a total of three sessions, she did a stretching exercise then acupuncture, gave me an exercise to do, (stand in a door way feet together arms up, hands at about ear level, hands on door frame, push yourself in and out start at 5 work up to 20) I do this when ever I feel the pain coming back, been pain free for at least 11 years, hope it helps.

When I first saw this girl I laughed to myself what could she know she was only about 22 - 25.
I guess one doesn't have to be old to know what their doing.

Ya my shoulder pops every time I reach up high and at times that pop hurts like a so an so. Found that a chiropractor did help but with all the gov cut backs now days I do not get to go see them any more. Had ortoscopic (sp) surgery done on my shoulder some 10 or so years ago if not more. Did help for a while but now almost as bad as it was

In November 2008 I tore the rotor cuff in my left shoulder lifting a auto battery. Could still use arm but could not lift it over my head much less lift any weight over my head. January 2009 had it repaired, they gave me some exercises to start on in just a few days, then came a couple months of rehab exercises first three and then two times a week. I now have about 90% use of arm, Doctor said that was about as good as it will get, but have no problem lifting. The operation really isn't too bad. Just be sure and do the exercises or you may have problems.

Yup... seen that movie too. But it does have a happy ending. Never realized the pain and adjustments I had subconsciously made until later after the surgery.
Went in to repair a few tears and a bone spur, they found a mess that couldn't be easily seen with the MRI. Came out with screws in the shoulder.
Bottom line, I would say I'm close to 100% with it. Took about 6 months of therapy and I still do the exercises a few years later - I do them with both shoulders, just in case!

Good Luck.

I was on the second rung of a ladder when the ladder slipped. Just stepped down, but then lost my balance. Fell backwards and like you, caught myself with my right arm. Broke my wrist. Not fun.

Don't let them give you fanitol (sp?) in the anesthesia.

When they set my wrist, the anesthesia had fanitol in it. About 12 hrs after waking up, I was sicker than I had ever been in my life. Felt really bad in addition to heaving constantly.
