| Just went to The World Forestry Center in Portland Oregon. They had a bunch of info on those old redwoods. Amazing the brute strength that was used to turn those beasts into timber. |

| There is atree in northen ca that took 38 days to cut down. the stumo is still there as well as the tree. they say enough wodd to build 4 4 room houses with the fallen tree. |

| How the heck did they process those trees into lumber??? I guess they must have had a method, otherwise it would be a shame to cut one down. Although, I have to admit, I like cutting big trees down, but just to the upper limit of what I can manage. Those redwoods are ridiculous! What did they do with them?
I hope someone here knows...

| Many saw mills used double saw set ups, a large circular saw on the mill cant and a smaller circular saw mounted above and just behind the lower saw, using this method logs up to around 14 feet across could be sawed, there were already big band saws in use but they were slow and took a lot of power, JI CASE was one of the first manufacturers of double saws starting around 1880. |
