'88 Chevy Cab Corners

I started installing new cab corners on my truck today. And
to do the job properly the box must come off. 8 bolts
holding that bed on; two of which I think I'm going to have
to remove the spring mounts to access. Big job. Nothing is
as easy as planned.

Tired tonight.

When they design vehicles nowadays, they design them to go together fast at the assembly plant, with little or no consideration for the poor sucker who has to repair it later.

You do not have to take the spring mounts off. I used to mount goose neck hitches in pickups. Always took the bed off to mount the ball. You can get the bed off in minutes. Just may need a good impact wrench and some heat on some of the bolts.

Yeah, I sure hope I don't have to. I can get 6 of the 8 with the impact wrench, but what about the second one back from the cab on either side. No way an impact's gonna get at those. Maybe things will look better when I'm rested. If the bolts turned easy it would be one thing, but I'm running 165 lbs. pressure and my impact's grunting. I didn't try any heat yet.

Thank you for your encouragement JD.

I usually use an impact ujoint on the second ones back. The one above the fuel tank I usually take and extension and reach up between the tank and the frame to get that bolt. I have a stubby 3/4 impact for when they get real stubborn.

Why would you repair? Today's society is simply replace. Heck the computers won't last nearly as long as the tin metal they are built from.
