Well thanks everyone for all the information on the combines. I found a 72 all crop today at a price I couldn't turn downin good running condition he picked beans with it today and bought it.

You'll like it. Don't try to go too fast with it. Clearing a clogged cylinder is no fun. You are using a tractor with live or independent pto aren't you?

I will be taking it real easy to begin with! Yes I have a 2009 kubota 9540 4x4 cab tractor. I hope it isn't to much power in front of it since it's 100+hp.

biggest thing on the older all crops was not to exceed 535rpm on the pto, or they would dance a jig and shake to pieces...I don't know about the 72, but it could be better balanced. One of the nicest setups I ever saw was a 460 Farmall pulling a 72, nice and smooth with 6 cylinders, live pto, and Torque Amplifier to change speed on the go.

Pulled an All Crop 72 with a JD A in beans, barley, and fescue seed years ago. Does a great job.
Keep it greased and what ever you do, don't run over correct pto speed.
Too much speed will destroy a combine faster than anything.
My uncle had turned up the speed of the A one time and the combine cylinder bars came loose. After we repaired it, I turned the A back where it was supposed to be and it ran fine.
