just picked up 54 modle naa my first old tractor . the hydrolics will not work at all in the cool weather like 40 degrees after . after the tractor runs about 40 minites they will work but very slow and jurk a lot .any ideas howto fix .need to use it in the winter .thank a lot

Have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? It may be low but it also may have some water in itcausing it to freeze. I would change the hydraulic fluid and go from there. you may want to post this question on the Ford Board below. You will get many good suggestions.

i have a naa also the first thing i would do is drop the fluid, check to see what it is, it needs to be tractor hydraulic fluid, [ 134] it sounds like somebody put oil in it like a N series tractor has, the naa is nothing like a N it has 4 separate compartments, for lube oil, rear end, hydraulic, transmission, and engine gear oil in the transmission and rear end, hydraulic fluid in the hydraulics, and engine oil in the engine i have used 15-40 rotella in mine for over a decade as its what i usually have a lot of around here and its heavy enough to keep the old engine in lube, unlike some of the thinner oils designed to run in modern cars

The Ford NAA has 3 sumps for oil transmission, hyds and rear end. Common for the seals to go bad between and then you have gear oil in the hyds so the hyd oil gets very thick. I would drain all 3 and fill each to the correct level with UTF which is thinner and that may fix your problems. Of course I am guessing you have the fluid levels as they should be as in all are as full as they should be

The NAA is designed for 80 or 90 gear oil.134 fluid lost all lift power when the oil got warm.My lift works in all weather with 90 gear oil.You can get a sample of the oil on the hydraulic dip stick.

I find the vane pump works just the opposite.Plenty of lift in cold weather, loss of lift in hot weather.Unless Dufus has put some 140 ep oil in the system.
