OT Got knee fixed today! can get back to stumping next week.

Went in for right meniscus tear today.
Was hoping to be awake for the procedure but bartender(anesthesiologists) said once they got me sedate i kept grabbing for my knee so they put me all the way out.
Pretty painless. They insisted I got a script for Vikadin even after I asked they did not write one.
Layed on the couch and watched a movie with Mark(10). He was nice and got me pretzels, honey mustard and a beer.
I never take Vik"s as the are a narcotic. If it gets painful I"ll just have a Absolute on the rocks and go to sleep.

Looks like a mouse has been chewing in there back by that stuff that looks like cotton. LOL Your pic looks a lot like the ones they took when they did mine seven weeks ago. The knee's gonna remind you that someone poked tools in there for awhile but it's not all that bad.

One pointer-when they say ICE IT you had better listen to them. I didn't ice it right away and when that anesthetic they put in there wore off about 12 hours after the surgery it was WHOOEE, where's the pain pills, and my foot turned purple. THEN I started icing and in about six hours the pain went away, the purple went away and I didn't need any more pills.

I have to go in for MRI on shoulder Monday. I had neck surgery for ruptured disk in February. It looks like I am officially out of warranty.

I wish you luck with that knee, I had the same operation over a year ago. Knee still hurts more than it did before the operation. My wife calls be Walter Brennon because I limp all the time.

Good Luck

I had that done, took about 2 1/2 months to heal all the way. Seems the incisions healed to quickly and trapped fluid that they had to drain off several times.

Good Luck, mine didn't go so well as VA is trying to put off a knee replacement as long as they can. Still have to wear a brace and use a cane most of the time.

bingo! Luckily I was asleep already when the 12 hrs passed. Hurts a whole lot more today. Dr. believes I should recover well. There is no bone or joint damage besides this miniscus.
Already does not hurt to bend knee by squatting. IE bend without using right legs muscles. But it does hurt to stand or rotate specific ways. Or to use right legs muscles to draw foot up.
I'm in a Recliner with ice on it for now.
Gently bending it periodly to keep it flexible.
Tks for all the replies and well wishes.
Totally fogged over and showers today so no time lost outside which is where I'd rather be.

If you are going to have a beer or Absolute, make sure you avoid the Vicodin. One probably wouldnt hurt, but you will amplify the Vicodin. Take the time to let it heal.

I had tendon surgery on my hand, Rum appeared to work better than Vicodin for me. Had to take it easy for over a month with limited use.

I have a torn meniscus. The Doc says that scoping is out because I have arthritis too bad. I also have severe inflammation, bone on bone, and a bone spur. I am scheduled for knee replacement Dec. 3rd, and hopeful of snowmobiling by mid to late Jan.

Rick, I do not take Vikadin. Any time they prescribe it even after I tell them not to I just don't fill the script. My wife got 10 viks filled of the script just in case. I am aware of how easy it is to damage the liver.
This just doesn't hurt that much unless I move it certain way. Took 1 Aleve just this am as when I took bandage off its pretty dam swollen. Bandage was restricting circulation. Doing light stretching, bending to work it out.
In general I do not take anything except coffee in the am and 2 or 3 Becks with after dinner.
Nice day out today, going to be hard to stay inside
