old international tractor !!!

i have a old tractor ,it is a internatioal "torque
amplifier",,,,can anyone help me with model numbers
or any info as to identify parts i need and repairs
,,i want to see it back to factory specs and nice
shinny paint by the time im done rebuilding it

A lot of old IH tractors said "Torque Amplifier" on the side.Look on the SN plate, located on the left side of the clutch housung. That will tell you the model#.If that fails, post a few pics for us to identify.

how can you rebuild something to factory spec's when you dont even know what your working on? just look on the serial # plate and it will tell you .OR give us a picture.too many models to list with torque amplifiers and you wouldnt know anyhow what model it is till we tell you. so easy just post a pic.

one i love all classic and older things ,secondly i know allot about many things ,one is respect ,2ndly i asked for help not to be disrespected so can you help or be a hinderance? hopfully the first!!!! thankyou

thankyou bob for the reply i was told the serial numbers are on the side if the gearbox ,,,which will tell me all the options added at the factory and all the info for that tractor from manufacturing date ,,,is this somwhat correct

This site can and will help you figure out what you have. The best bet is showing us a photo and the info off of the serial # plate. (usually near the starter motor on a 3X4"plate.)
The words Torque Amplifier is informative in that only certain models had them from 1954 on. However those words are similar to information on the side of a truck stating what engine it has. Be patient with us and go for it. Jim

thankyou for that ,ive just finished rebuilding a 1954 kiaser ,that my grandfather owned ,and also a 1943 pontiac silverstreak,so now this old tracktor ,,,i got it running very welll and the backhoe section works now but i need to find out the hydro steering ,the x owner has bypassed the lines ,i dont have the blueprints for this to do it right the first time, i did buy online a owners mantainence manual (40$)but not enough to fix the problems
thankyou for the great response from all your guests

There are often prefex and suffex letters and numbers that when interpreted can tell factory options. If it has a back hoe on it, and if it is a low sitting wide front end tractor, it is probably an industrial. No issue with that, it will just be more dependent on that serial# Jim

From the fenders and wheel size and hood line (not too much tractor is visible) I will hazard a guess that it is a 300Utility, or a 350 Utility. Other possibilities exist, but that is my first stab at it. Jim

yes it sitts extreamly low on the back end (scarey),and the streeing is really screwed up due to the steering box has been disconnected from hydrulics ,it was bridged so i dont know where hydro starts or ends

Is this it?

That must be a typo on your 1943 Pontiac silverstreak. In 43 all General motors factory's should have been building war materials so we all could keep English as our major language. We were at was with those nice Japanese.

If it is a IH 300 or 350 the IH serial number plate should be located just behind where the engine bolts to the clutch housing on the right side of tractor and near the oil filter level.
Numbers may be all the information that you can see on the plate. If so look above the oil filter for C-169 or C-175 cast on the block if its a gasoline tractor to try to identify which tractor. If original C-169 = 300 and C-175 = 350.

Some cars made in war years or sold as 1942-1945 when actually made 1941/1942. Friend had a 1942/43 Plymouth in family- no chrome, black paint, basic transport for medical personel, his grand father was a doctor then and needed car, got to purchase it. Some fancy cars got made/finished for politicians- no surprise there. Some Jeeps and Dodge 4x4s made it to civilian sale also- medical, state critical to defense workers/agencies, military industry and commodity suppliers-couple Texas ranchers got Jeeps for cattle round up use to supply beef to Army- 1944 made model with the state license plate sealed in plastic was at a show couple years back. Chevy square back 4 door sedans by lot made were sold to civilians that needed them- this was a staff car/utility model with same drive train as pickup used by Army and Lend Lease supplied, Ford had some similar diversion of military use models. A 1943 assembled from previous stamped body parts and new engine wouldn't surpise me. RN

I don't think anyone is disrespecting you. When you want help identifying something you need to post as much information as possible or it's a hindrance to getting the answers you're looking for. An IH tractor with T/A could be any one of a number of different tractors. How is anyone supposed to know what parts you might need? We aren't mind readers and psychics on here. If you bought a manual, doesn't it tell you the model? Take some more pictures and post them would be a good start.

yes you are very right about the bad enviroment having an affect on older items ,as a scrap, salvage guy i was just offered a 30 x55 foot quanset hut for teardown and removal ,so next early summer, will reset it up in my yard, for just this reason ,,,,kinda nice to get it for just the cost of labour wages!!!!!!

kelly, you have to understand that people can't really help you when you're being so vague. "I have a tractor. What is it?"

C'mon. You can do better than that. We need something other than a far-away picture of a tractor buried in snow and covered up by an aftermarket backhoe, loader, and cab.

You need to help us help you.

Clean off the snow. Get some close-up shots of the tractor underneath. Look for the serial number tag and do your best to get as much information off it as you can.
