Dual speed PTO

I know that Cockshutt was the first tractor tested at Nebraska with independent PTO. Does anyone know who introduced the dual speed PTO where you just change output shafts (not like MM or IH that had seperate shafts)?

Clear something up for me. Was the live PTO standard,or did you have a choice of live PTO or a high/low range transmission on the first Cockshutts?

P.S. Where about in Michigan are you ? My farm is in Cohoctah (north of Howell), and I work in Morrice (about 5 mi. east of Perry, corner of M52 and I-69).

I think it was the John Deere 435 in terms of first tested at Nebraska and also want to say the 730 had it available. I don't think any of the other 2 cylinders had it, however.

It is my understanding that IPTO and the creeper range were options on the Cockshutt 30. I don't think they were mutually exclusive. IPTO was standard on the 40 and 50.

You"re getting close to me, Lennon area. I use to run around Byron and Cohoctah all the time.

I know you could get a Cockshutt 30 with no PTO at all, so I imagine you could order one without the hi/low. Why anyone would have done that for the few dollars saved I can't say. Without those options you have a raking and plowing tractor and a limited one at that. That hi/low gets a lot more use from me than the PTO.
