Mystery solved

The 44 was starving for fuel when I would take it on a drive, but run great in the shop. I took the carb off, looked it over, even took it to Bryan, and he said it looked OK.

The tractor was actually running out of gas.

I took the new sediment bowl off today, and the riser was sticking up about 1/2" in the tank. I cut that off and it runs great now. It was taking about 2 gallons of gas to make it into the sediment bowl.

The riser was plugged some they stick up so they dont catch all the fines in the bottom of the tank. Not uncommon for the inlet to get plugged with fines and can stop the flow when the tank is low.

Might have been better to just put in more gas, rather than cut off the riser- that was what was keeping all the rust and crud out of the sediment bowl and carburetor.

The tank is really clean, I want to make sure and keep the water drained out. The riser will prevent this.
