Well,
Since last Thussday the clouds have bee down to 1000' ABSL. We are at 1400' plus. Mist and rain for a week now. Not complaining, we have only had 26.53" rain since Jan 1, of this year. May sound like a lot to many of you, but around here it all goes down the Hudson River or the Susquehanna River in a big hurry without soaking in much. We are on a natural divide between two distinct ecosystems, (everything is downhill from here.) Anyway these pics. are from both sides of the ridge and within a 2mi, perimiter from my house. The uncles dropped 30A of prime 4th cut last Thurs, (total loss) Started plowing down the oat stubble, nothing else to do! It's rained every day since until today. Temp clumbed to 74F today, with on and off sunshine. This weekend is supposed to be much cooler, with the weather that is coming in from western US and Canada earlier this week. I think my Case Bros.from WY an MN are out to get revenge, LOL.

PS will post many more pics this weekend, too many for one post tonight.

CaseAdirondackGuy,

Why don't you round bale the 4th cut and wrap it in plastic film? without that method our cattle would starve this year. We only got a week at the end of may and another week mid August to make hay. Even if you bale and it is raining it still makes quite palletable silage, but if it can get a few hrs drying and some tedding it makes great silage. Too costly to have a total loss!

First, second and third cut was rounded up and sold as balage. There is no further market for Adirondack Marshmellows around here, however there is a good market for small squares. This is a cash crop operation and nolonger a working dairy, that needs large quanities of yearound feed.
