Anyone know who still mfg in the us for tractor tires? Maybe a source for good price or even used tires?
I have a JD 4010 that has 18.4.34's on it. Book says the 4010 came with 13.6.38. Is the 34 a better choice? I need 4 with the duals, could get by with just 2 and the way price's are may have to.
Any experieance with the chinese stuff?
By the way, its snowing hard here in northern mn now, and we need it, drought and fires are bad this fall.

My brother does farm tires. He's had a few people insist on the cheap china tires and they mostly rot off in a few years. I was just in his shop a few days back and a guy came in that had bought a big floatation tire for a large gravity box. The guy had complained because he could get the cheap tire for a $100.00 less from somewhere else, my brother wouldn't sell the china tire so the customer bought it at the other store. He brought the cheap tire in because it was flat and they found it was flat because the rubber that covered the inside the tires cords was so thin the cords wore a hole threw the tube. So the customer got to buy a cheap tire then a good tire all within a few weeks.

A lot of traction difference between the 18.4 and 13.6 be
careful not to over load the tractor with the larger tires if you
use duals.

Most 4010's and 4020's and early 806's sold new in our area were equipped with 18.4 x 34 tires. The later 4020's and 806's went mostly to 18.4 x 38.

I put 2 Crop Max tires made in Thialand on recently. They look good so far but we are talking 2 months. I wanted to go USA but the wallet said no. The tire guy I deal with for 20 years now says he is getting good word back. Who knows. Its hard to spend $2k on tires for a $3k tractor.

"American Farmer" is made in PA And TN. I have a couple pair, and I am not impressed. I have a pair of Firestone radials on order to replace the one pair.

The 13.6 x 38 were for use in row crops, cultivator and especially a mounted corn picker. The others were good for where you needed traction and did not have to think about a row spacing.

I bought PrimeX because that was what my local guy stocked. In three years they were cracked and now 7 years they are falling apart. Tractor has been in the garage 50% of the time. Not sure where they come from but avoid them.

Thanks for the responses guys, still looking for a couple good used but may have to new. Checked at the dealer, (NW tires) 890 each for GY and 770 for Chinese.

Continental tired which I guess are changing names to mitas a/c or something like that is manufactured in Iowa I have a set on a 756 owned it for 3yrs bought the tractor with them on it and where almost new then some road miles parked inside most of the time they are holding up very well

I priced tires this spring and Firestone was more reasonably priced than goodyear for 18.4 38's, $200 a tire difference.
