37Chief 10-02-2012 13:12:41 68.8.206.100 Report to Moderator	I was putting on my work boots the other day I felt something in the toe. I thought it was just my sock waded up. the next day my wife says what did you get on your sock it sure stinks. The day before my cat had a mouse in the house, and it got away. You guessed it I walked around all day with a dead mouse in my boot. The boot, sock and mouse are in the trash. When Dad raised hay I had mice run up my pants, that gives you a thrill, but atleast they were alive. I know you didn't need to read about this, but what about me who lived through it. One morning he left the house about 4 am heaed to the river, as he always did he slipped on his shoes that were left outside on the "rock" it seems a Toad had moved in the shoe. Old man thought SNAKE and woke up the whole house. He didn't wear socks and enertained kids by lighting a match on his heel. no wonder I'm crazy. [Reply]  [No Email]

One day when I was about 12 I ran to get the grain truck out of the shed. As it backed into the light I saw a mouse sitting on her hind legs by the gear shift. It was harvest and I was in a hurry so I figured she would move when I took off. She did. Right up my right leg. I jumped out of the truck and turned off the key as I left. That old truck was still chugging across the barnyard. I hit the ground and grabbed around my leg at the thigh. I jumped up and down until she fell out and mashed her with my boot. I've wondered many times since what would have happened if she would have gone into my boot. Also wonder what would have happened if that truck wouldn't have stopped short of the fuel barrels. That wasn't a concern at the time. Needless to say, I tuck my overalls into my boots every time I get into the grain truck to this day. Whew. [Reply]  [No Email]

Had more than one mouse in a shoe on cold mornings. 45 years later and I still always knock out my shoes before putting them on. James Williams 10-02-2012 15:06:56 69.251.26.114 Report to Moderator	Re: Is this sick or what in reply to 37Chief, 10-02-2012 13:12:41   Cheif,your story brings back a lot of memories,When I was a small kid growing up on my uncles farm we would bale hay,drop it on the ground and loaded it on a old Diamond-Reo truck.Since I was to small to load the hay I was taught to drive the truck,I was watching in the mirror and saw my uncle laying on the ground kicking his feet,I jumped out of the truck and was wandering what was going on,He said a black snake ran up my pants leg,after I got him setteled down he had a hole in his pocket and his keys fell down his leg,We laughed about that untill he died,I sure miss him jimmy [Reply]  [No Email]

They're in the barn, in the storage buildings, in the sheds, and in the house. I have a "mud-room" (really the back porch) where I hang my coats and hats and leave my boots when I come into the house. One morning a couple of years ago, I put my boots on and headed out. I kept feeling something pricking my foot, but I figured it was just some dry grass, hay, or straw in there. After a while, it become quite painful, so I took my boot off. Sure enough, a wasp was in there and it had stung me three or four times on my foot. It was pretty painful for a while, but some ammonia on the stings helped a bunch. I now bang the toes of my boots on the floor before I put them on to try to dislodge anything that is in them. Tom in TN [Reply]  [No Email]
