QUICK COMMENT . THAT IS ONE HELLUVA TRACTOR, USED ONE FOR MANY YEARS. You might want to reconsider repositioning of the add on hyd filter that appears to be be Hanging on the side of the main resevoir with a pipe fitting .... I believe mounting it on the X frame behind it would be a much better choise . yes it will hav e to be replummed . those things are heavy when filled with oil.

I need to build a brace for it yet, it will fit right in behind the grill.

I fabricated the plate for the new engine oil filter today, put the muffler on, and installed the diode for the alternator circuit.

I never liked the regular 44's that much, but the 44 Special, like yours, and the 444 was a good tractor.

Mine is a 44, but it had the optional cast wheels and live power. I have updated the engine to 277 with M&W piston clones.

Well, if the live power and cast wheels was on it from the factory, it is a 44 special, and was already a 277.

The cast wheels were out in 1948 and the LPTO in 1951 on the 44s.

This tractor had a narrow front end, added the wide, dome pistons, alternator, hydraulic filter and 3 pt.

I am picking up a muffler and choke cable today. I am tired of getting on/off to start it. There are a few leaks to correct.

The lift cylinder is stuck tight, that is my next challenge so I can get the 3pt working.

Very nice job. Been folowing your posts. Enjoy your son and teach him all you can now. It won't be long before he knows more than you (in his mind.) My son still has too much of his grandfather's son in him! (stuborn as a mule) LOL
