Trying to name this instrument. It's made by Oscar Schmidt, which is now part of Washburn. It is a 16 string thing, on the left, as you look at it on the table, and has 16 more strings, 8 top and 8 bottom, at about a 15 degree angle, on the right. I guess size wise, it it looks like the size of 2 ukuleles, if you eliminated the necks, and joined them together in a common body. Has a hole at either end. A Hawiian tiple!! It's kind of an autoharp-zither-lap steel deal. Very, VERY cool!! Too bad I'm broke, I could use one of those. Always wanted to learn how to play one & jam along with my Don Ho album.

Dulcimers have been made in many styles and shapes.
the link I posted ...(I personally like the one with the drum head . that has the banjo sound)
I would say it is a variation of a bow dulcimer played with a bow or maybe a hammer dulcimer? one similar is demonstrated in this
