Old John Deere Combine

Back in 1963 I was 13 years old and used to ride an old John Deere combine combining barley. Trying to find out the model. It had a 4 cylinder winsconsin engine on it with the muffler rusted off. Had a place for two burlap sacks. While one filled you tied the other with a millers knot and placed on a drop chute. Was pulled with a M Farmall and the guy driving only knew wide open. 10 hour days and only stopped for lunch or breakdowns. Hard work for me.

DH,
About that time frame My dad had a JD 12 A.
His had a 20 bu bin on it. But you could get it with the bagger option. Dad's had the Scour Clean option that had a bag that the weed seeds went into.

same age and time frame as you- my dad also had a 12A combine but it had a 2 cyl jd engine. i got real good at tying miller's knots too. dusty and dirty job, but the bags of oats were a nice reward to see.

Some one posted a link to a You-tube video of such a combine working here with in the last month. It was a lete 30's/early 40's combine with a bagger.

DH, that sounds like an older gentleman in the area where I grew up near Greensboro. He had a M Farmall and he went wide open all the time, mower, baler, whatever. Can't remember his name right now.
