grain drill vs. broadcast spreader

I broadcasted beans about three weeks ago and within a day or two a flock of turkeys found them and pretty well devoured them all. I did use a cultipacker to pack them in but it was pretty dry at the time. Would it be better to use a drill? Will the turkeys still get to them? Also the ground is in mid Mo. and it is a little bit rocky. Would a drill hold up? This is for a food plot.
Thanks, Barry

Barry: Do a lot of food plots, don,t think it makes a lot of diffrence. One thing to do is disk the ground real good before the broadcast,cultipacker treatment. We just finished quite a bit of wheat bradcast but was lucky finished a 4 pm and the good slow steady rain started about hour latter. Four days and the wheat was up and green. What kind of beans are you planting this late ? We try to find something to provide winter feed for turkey like milo or beans but deer usually get the food before winter.

I just used roundup ready beans. I was wanting some green stuff to fatten them up. I know they won't get beans on them this late. I did disc the ground first. I was thinking maybe the drill would hide them better from the turkeys. I also sowed some annual rye for the deer to browse on.

bweb;

I think wheat or oats are a better plot for deer and turkeys. I have a small wheat plot near my corn plot.
