Broke finger chaining down tractor ??

Stupid me, got my ring finger between the binder and the chain I think. Anyway next thing I know, finger tip is pointing north right at the start of the nail. EMTs at the fair, put a splint on it and said that was about all that could be done for a finger tip break, that wasn't twisted or bent.

That was two weeks ago. I can still feel on occasion, the bone ends touching (moving) I think. Anybody else had their finger tip broke? and how long did it take for the two ends to meet and knit back together?

So your saying you have not gone and had it set by a doctor right???? If not do so. Most of the time the doctor will tape it to your finger next to it to keep in in place to heel other wise if not held fast in place it may never heel or could also send a bone fragment floating in the blood stream and kill you. Such thing is why it is always best to use a cheater on the binder so you do not get your finger in the way

Or they will drill in under your finger nail, through the bone and insert a stainless pin. BTDT several times....James

My fingers (mostly the middle ones) catch hell with leadropes and young horses...... Stove em up in summer, then bump em good in winter when they're half froze.........

I was actually using, one of those bars with the binder adaptor on one end and a ratchet strap tool on the other.

Nearly cut one off working on the axle of my truck. The break took a while to heal, but the big problem was because it broke it healed longer than it was. Living with a finger for nearly 50 years then adding a 1/4 inch in length causes all kinds of problems. Still hits the stearing wheel when I turn, just don't hurt no more. LOL

Well just saw the Orthopedic Surgeon, don't need to wear the splint anymore, clean break. Everything is lined up good. Went to see Dr on Saturday. He insisted I see an Orthopedic surgeon JIC. Said he wasn't well versed with broken bones, or he was scared of a law suit if it didn't heal.
