8820 transmission pump

I purchased an 8820 at an auction, after it was home I noticed the trans light wasn"t on when sitting still. They had unhooked the wires. Wired it back up and light was on while moving. Pulled out the sending unit and drove it and it pumped out no oil at all. Removed the pump thinking the drive pin was broke but it wasn"t and everything looks fine. Could the pump gears be wore out and still look ok? I"m baffled on this one!

Drain and flush the transmission out then fill with the correct oil. I think they just use Hy-guard. If some one has put in gear oil it will not pump it.

Also clean the strainer. It is item #26. To remove it loosen clip # 22. Then wiggle tube #23 up and out of plug #24. When you get the tube up you can then rotate and pull on plug #24 and it will come out. I would then flush and clean everything up.

While you have it apart replace the o-rings(#19) on the external tubes. They can make the lube pump suck air and then it will not pump.

Thanks JDseller. Already pulled screen to look for metal shavings and found none thankfully. It was full of gear oil (80-90w). Hope its that simple.
