Saw my first Farmall F40

Somebody at the Heritage Park show at Forest City, IA had a sense of humor!

We went last Saturday. It was a good show. Man, they have buildings full of stuff! Will post more sometime. Lots of steamers...never saw so many at one show in my life. Watched some steam engines plow - but the plows were not scouring so it was not as impressive as it might have been.

I'm working on a similar project. (Ford)2.8L V6 in an F-12.It has a wide front from a SC,plus a hiesler overdrive."Complete" with 13.6x26 tires(from a 55 combine) on homemade rims.Gonna be a real 'hotrod!Thanks for posting.(and all the other great pics,too)Steve

Sounds interesting. Hope you post some photos when it is done (or in progress too).
 
Back many moons ago I had a F-30 tha fit the 40 number> I bought it to run a field chopper. It was souped up with a ,025 planed head, high attiduded (doomed)pistons a Heisler Govenor. Boy, when it hit a slug on alfalfa it Snorted. Tour the PTO of chopper till Mnufacture installed a new heavy HP PTO. It had been uaws ro pull a four botttom plow in the Dakota's in the 30's gitrib

Are you going to keep her rusty? Or will this one be painted? (I vote for rust.)
 
I hope to paint it....someday if I ever get it finished.The bottom pic is the "before" shot'.The big ballon tires are from a WW2 bomber.

Wondered about those tires. They kind of look like a giant version of the tires on our gravity box wagons.
