My brother had a pair of those tree-eaters. One stood on top of a railroad tie corner post for an hour watching while I wired the service panel for his barn. I don't know what he learned about wiring, but he sure was watching closely.

great pictures.

A goats personality depends very heavily upon how they're raised.

I've got a young daughter - so most of ours are lap-goats (they WILL try to hop onto your lap if you're sitting). Most are bottle fed at an early age and very used to abundant amounts of attention.

We used to let them roam freely, but they are so friendly they're quite a nuisance.

They all want to stand right against you and either rub their horns on you or nibble on your pants. God forbid you ever drop something you don't want them to eat.

We keep them behind an electric fence now - but there's one that's willing to take the shock every day to get out.

Every day - she dives through the fence and goes up and lays on our deck. She positions herself so she can spy on the others through a crack in the fence - all day long, that's all she does. Sits there spying.

Good photos! I guess it's how you look after them or any other animal as to their demeanor. They will clean up a patch of undergrowth, etc. as well as a bulldozer. But if you're not careful, they will get a little wild at times. However there is a demand for their products. A few years ago a woman retired from her profession in another state and bought an old farm a few miles from here. She started a goat dairy, and it has been very successful. She passed away a year or so ago but her brother and his family operate it now. They sell goat milk, cheese, and have open house every year so people can visit and view the operation first hand.

Jimmy,
Great photos! The goats look adorable, but I think they would be pesky pets.

When I was a teenager, my brother's friend had a pet goat that he let roam around the yard. This guy would put on a football helmet and rough house with the goat. You could not get out of your car at their place or that thing would knock you down...because it wanted to play. Plus it too, would go right on top of your car.

Had a friend that had goats just running around. You did not dare drive a good vehicle into his place. You would come back out and those goats would be standing on top of the car roof.

When I was a kid my Uncle had a bunch of goats. He also did not have a indoor bathroom. So you used an outhouse. He had a two hole deluxe one. LOL Must have been the eight kids drove the need. Anyway, we where visiting one time and my Mother had to go to the bath room. So she is sitting in the outhouse. One of the goats walks over to a fence post right beside of the outhouse. That goat jumps up on the top of that fence post. Then jumps on the top of the outhouse's metal roof. My Mother came running out of that outhouse like it was on fire. She was fighting to get her pants back up the first little bit. LOL We teased her for years about her "Olympic" sprint out of that outhouse. She said it sounded like the thing was falling in when that goat jumped onto the roof. I guess it was good that she was sitting where she was. LAMO

I think of that just about every time I see any goats. Thanks for the pictures.
