international 785 poor hydrolic lift

my international 785 has problems lifting a round bale of silage which should not be a problem to this tractor. Had a preasure test done and it read 2500 which is good. Have changed filter and cleaned breather under the seat. Any suggestions?

Is this with the loader or with a three point bale spear? If it is
with a loader the piston seals in the loader lift cylinders could
be bad.

it is with a three point linkage, the bales are heavy but the tractor should be able to lift them

If they checked the pressure at the Selective control outlets this just tells you the system pressure is at 2500 PSI. It does not tell you what the pressure is on the three point system. It has its own control valve and relief valve. Plus the three point lift cylinder can be leaking under heavy loads.

I am not familiar enough with an IH or CIH 785 to know if you can get a pressure reading on the three point lift cylinder under load. The larger JD tractors are easy to check this on but the utility tractors can't be checked under load. So yours could be either way.

I would bet that the lift cylinder just needs rebuilt. The piston sliding in the cylinder bore will wear the seals. So this is wear item.

If you shut your tractor off does the three point arms go down fast when under load?? I never worry if they go down over night but they should stay up for a few hours without any settling.

To check the preasure i fitted the tester to the spool valve for tipping a trailer and pulled the lever and that give that reading of 2500 .Could you still get that reading with a bad lift pump

Hi BPMO, on the 785, the 3pt and aux remotes share
the same hydraulic relief valve and 2500 psi is
good. Is the draft control level all the way
forward? The 3pt should lift enough to lift the
front wheels off the ground.
Are the 3pt link arms installed the correct way with
the cat II holes connected to the bale spear?

Agree with what others said, but also check hydraulic oil filter to see if it is dirty and reducing flow.
