So the drain plugs have been out while I have been working on this 850, cleaned the compartments out and so on, while refilling the rear end, I loosened the oil level plug, almost to the last thread, and while filling, nothing leaked, whoa, put a clean pan under that pug and pulled it, probably over a gallon, maybe 2. Funny I did pull the plug while filling, oh well she fooled me and parted me some $$ which I hate as much as waste.
Now the 80w-90 is in a clean drain pan, which was flushed with gasoline, but you know how that goes, but it was clean but it ran in from along the rear housing, so do you think its worth straining given what I describe or is it dollar smart and penny foolish, and just add to the waste oil, and forget it, mind you 5 gallons is $70. If so what would you use to strain it and would you use it in a differential after doing this?
First darned time for anything, but I let it drain, might be a tad high on the level plug, but I would imagine 2 gallons over would cause some kind of trouble, well I did learn one thing for certain, the hydraulic and differential compartment seal seems to not leak LOL !
