cracked block

I have a 1954 Ferguson TO 30 with cracks between all 4 cylinder sleeves to and bottom. Can these be welded or would jb weld be an ok fix?

I'd be looking for another block as well... Failing that I'd weld this one. If I understand correctly where the crack is... it would be hard to pin. Any repair would not be easy.

Williams in Nevada Iowa has been bought out by Arnold Motor Supply. If you have an Arnolds store close by have them get you hooked up.

But..but..but...the city of Dallas saved $4,000 when they used JB Weld on a cracked engine block! It must be true, because I read that on an old package of JB weld! Okay, sarcasm off. Yes, I did read that on an old package of JB Weld. Yes, it is highly overrated when it comes to an application that involves heat.

Most times I would agree with you about JBWeld... but I can honestly say I found a legitimate use for it this summer that saved me a bunch of money. The air cleaner assembly on my 7710 developed holes in the end plate where the clean air exits. Welding was not an option as there was nothing to weld. I applied a PILE of bronze to it that was still bubbling out or would collapse. Rather than lose the engine over a hole I mixed up a complete tube of JB and slathered it on after a good cleaning. I've got to admit it made a very clean smooth job and it fully sealed the holes. For 20 minutes work and 10 bucks worth of product it saved me probably well over 100 bucks.
Now I may never do that again as long as I live... but there's one where it worked.

I agree it does have it's uses.
I just get a bit baffled by folks who ask if it will work on the pressure side of their hydraulic pump, the crack in their exhaust manifold or for glueing their broken crankshaft back together.
We also used some last weekend to fill the wear marks on the tranny on that beat up 4600 before we painted it.
